Windows Could Harvest Infrared Solar Power While Letting Visible Light Through

Here is some science in the news for you to enjoy reading. Scientists at MIT have created technologies that could allow for windows to harvest the infrared solar energy while allow visible light to pass through. This has many practical implications. It seems this could help ween The United States off of having to import oil from unfriendly and/or oppressive regimes throughout the world. That is a good thing, because right now it seems like The USA are empowering hostile and oppressive regimes by buying their oil at outrageously high prices. They reached a solar energy collection efficiency of 1.7 percent, but they think they might be able to get it to 12% soon. Is that not good science in the news?! 🙂
