Science impacts society greatly, and science in the news helps drive science forward. When researches publish their findings, it allows others to absorb new knowledge. New research can make the lives of humans more enjoyable. New research is a good thing. More humans should perhaps go into research, so they can produce more research findings. If more researches are finding and creating new knowledge, the economies of this Earth may be better.
New products come from new research. Consumers buy new products which helps the economy, so new research is good for the economy. New research could possibly discovers ways of traveling faster than light or how to make the teleportation of matter work. New research could possibly find a way to travel between different universes (if multiple universes exist).
Science has all these purposes and more. So, now, hopefully it is clear why science in the news is good. 🙂
